How it works

- 03Positions are realYou can only buy a man who actually logged minutes at that spot. Giannis is never a shooting guard.
Fill a point guard through a centre inside your budget, then the two rosters play a best of seven. Team strength and fit come out of the real numbers: usage, spacing, assist and rebound rates, rim protection and defensive BPM. Ratings stay hidden until the final buzzer.
World leaderboard
Rating is Elo. Everyone starts at 1200, and every finished series moves both players by how surprising the result was. Only online rooms count — same-screen games are not ranked.
Privacy policy
Last updated 11 September 2026Replace OPERATOR NAME and the contact address on the Contact page with your details. Name the country you operate from, because that decides which privacy law applies to you first.
Hoop Auction is a two player basketball auction game run by OPERATOR NAME. This page says what the game stores about you, why, and how to get rid of it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
What we store

What we do not do
- No advertising, no ad networks, no tracking pixels.
- No selling or renting your data to anyone, for any price.
- No analytics profile of you across other websites.
- No collecting anything from anyone we know to be under 13.
Who else touches it
The game runs on Google Firebase, which handles sign-in, stores the database and serves the site. That means Google processes your data on our behalf under their terms. Nobody else receives it.
Your controls
- See it. Everything we hold about you is on your My Stats page.
- Change it. Your player name is editable at any time from My Account.
- Delete it. Ask us on the Contact page and your account and every result attached to it are removed. If you are in the UK, the EU, California, or anywhere with similar law, this is your right and we will not make you argue for it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top moves and you will see a notice in the game. Small wording fixes will not get a notice.
Cookie policy
Last updated 11 September 2026Short version: the game keeps a few things in your browser so it remembers who you are between visits. None of it is advertising and none of it follows you off this site.

No consent banner, and why
Everything above is strictly necessary to run a game you asked to play. Under the EU ePrivacy rules and the UK equivalent, strictly necessary storage does not need consent. The moment we add anything that is not necessary, analytics included, a banner appears and it will default to off.
Clearing it
Clearing site data in your browser removes all of it. If you are signed in with Google or email your account still exists on the server and signing in again brings your stats back. If you were playing as a guest, clearing the browser loses that guest record for good.
Terms of use
Last updated 11 September 2026Fill in OPERATOR NAME and the governing country or state. If you are in Ontario, the usual wording is "the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it".
Using Hoop Auction means you accept what is on this page. If you do not, do not use it.
The account
- You are responsible for what happens on your account. Keep your sign-in to yourself.
- Pick a player name that is not abusive, not impersonating somebody, and not a slur. We will rename or remove accounts that break this.
- You need to be 13 or older. If you are under the age of majority where you live, get a parent to agree to this on your behalf.
Fair play
- No scripting the client, no editing what gets written to the database, no farming rating with second accounts you also control.
- Ratings and results that came from cheating get wiped, and the account goes with them.
- We can reset the ladder or adjust ratings if the table is broken. If we do, we will say why in the game.
This is a game, not gambling
The dollars in Hoop Auction are a scoring mechanic. There is no real money, no deposits, no withdrawals, no prizes with cash value, and nothing to buy. Do not treat the simulation as a prediction of real basketball outcomes.
Where the numbers come from
Player statistics are historical NBA box score and advanced data, sourced from Basketball-Reference. Hoop Auction is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the National Basketball Association, any team, any player, or Sports Reference LLC. Team and player names are used descriptively to identify real seasons of play.
What we promise, which is not much
The game is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be available, that the simulation is accurate, or that your data survives a disaster. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from using it. Nothing here removes rights you have that cannot be removed by contract.
Ending it
You can stop and ask for deletion at any time. We can suspend an account that breaks these terms. If we shut the game down we will give notice in the game first.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of GOVERNING COUNTRY OR STATE, and its courts are where any dispute goes.

We read everythingOpen index.html, search for viewContact, and replace the four placeholder addresses below. Keeping a separate privacy address is worth it: deletion requests need answering on a clock in some countries.
